Width Matters
It is a basic fact that if a ramp is too ‘thin’
then it will not work. A ramp of adequate width will allow a rider
to curve, thus maintaining speed and stability. Another crucial
benefit of a wide ramp is that tricks can be safely executed.
Some typical examples of Fearless
Ramps sizes:
Quarter Pipe/Flat bank min 3.0m wide
Driveway min 2.5m wide (3.0m with rail)
Spine Ramp min 4.5m wide
Mini/Midi Ramp min 6.0m wide
Tombstone Ramp min 7.5m wide
Variation in Transitions
One transition (radii of ramp) will not work for
all types/ heights of ramps. It should also be noted that certain
transitions favor different disciplines.
It is for this reason that
Andy Peerless will employ:
Varied transitions in order that each element of
the facility will function correctly.
The types and applications of our transitions are secret but clients
can rest assured this level of detailed design is applied to all
projects.
Some layout Considerations
Fearless Ramps consult widely with the users and
clients prior to finalizing any design. Consideration is given to
the demographic, type of disciplines and skill level of the users.
This together with the available space, budget and user ‘wish
list’.
Again ‘size matters’.
The more space available the better/more flexible the
park will be. That’s not to say that a small street course
will not be challenging and enjoyable.
Some bullet Points for layout
design:
- Approx minimum length/width required for street
course 28.5m x 7m
- Toe to toe dimension should not fall below
5.5m
- Avoid intercepting ride lines.
- Where will stray boards come form and go to?
- Create good/varied ride lines
- Attempt to passively segregate disciplines
We provide:
Expert consultation and advice on location, content and usage of
your proposed facility
A full design service such that a unique bespoke park, tailored
to the users’ need is provided
Custom, hand-built ramps manufactured to exacting standards
We focus on attention to detail:
All materials are tested and fixed to allow for thermal expansion
Copings are accurately set to +/- 2mm tolerance
All transitions blend seamlessly with mating surfaces
Frames fixed using vandal-proof shear nuts
We believe safety is a priority:
ROSPA and PAS35 guidelines observed (Fearless Ramps contributed
to both of the above documents)
All guard handrails are boxed in (to prevent entrapment)
Segregated ride lines are considered at design stage
Full construction phase Health and Safety package provided
Fearless Ramps will not install
a park that it does not believe in!
